#25 Projecting the right attitude
Here are your SL* for Thursday 23 April 2020
🤩 There’s a new hero in town
The Bristol Post reports there is a bright new SL* in town and his name is FRANK MILLS -- the six-year-old from Bristol who only started walking 18 months ago (he has spina bifida, like that’s going to stop him) has been inspired to raise money for the NHS after watching Captain Tom Moore complete his 100 laps (SL* #24 Above and beyond).
Frank started off aiming to raise just £99… and as I write this he’s reached £192,000!!!!
You can donate to Frank on his Just Giving page here.
His mother, Janet Mills, said: "When Frank saw Captain Tom on TV, he said, 'I want to do that!'.
🤩 FRANK YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE HERO 🤩
Please, please, PLEASE go and watch this video of Frank completing his daily 10 meter walk - plus you’ll learn what ‘marshmellow claps’ are!

⛰️ Mountain excitement // Summits going on…
Sorry… too many puns for this one :)
CNN reports that people are posting photos from Jalandhar in the Indian state of Punjab who can now see the Himalayas for the first time in 'decades,' as the lockdown eases air pollution.

🌸 Blooming marvellous

National Public Radio (aka NPR) reports that a tree, known as the Takizakura or ‘waterfall cherry tree’ is now in full bloom -- at more than 1,000 years old this tree has lived through countless wars, famines, earthquakes, storms and even one of the worst nuclear disasters in history in 2011 in nearby Fukushima.
Just goes to show how resilient nature is.
(anyone else think this looks like the tree in Avatar?)
📽️ Projecting the right attitude
The Washintonian reports that visual artist Robin Bell and Duncan Meisel, a nonprofit digital consultant from Austin, are working with a team of volunteers to collect memorial messages through submissions on their site -- Covid Memorial is a digital archive honouring the deceased and those who mourn them.
“Collectively, we’re going through a loss. We’re going through grief… There’s something about taking a moment and acknowledging where we’re at and acknowledging the people we have lost.”
— Robin Bell

Meanwhile in Zermatt, Switzerland on the most photographed mountain in the world, flags and messages of solidarity are being projected each night onto the mountainside -- You can find all the projections here.
While in Brazil, a doctor is being projected onto the world-famous Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking Rio, to celebrate the people on the frontlines of their health service.

Remember Scott Duggan from SL* #22 That’s the spirit ? -- Scott is a freelance production manager in Cork, Ireland who is projecting classic films for all his neighbours to enjoy together. He has even set up an FM radio frequency so everyone can tune in and listen while they watch!
Well it’s great to see the films are still going and they have got a name now -- The Windmill Road Picture Show.
👏 Great Scott! 👏
