🤫 A Night(ly) at the Opera
During this extraordinary and difficult time, the Met hopes to brighten the lives of our audience members even while our stage is dark.
Following the closure of the Metropolitan Opera (MET) season in New York, it has decided to start streaming past performances nightly for FREE. You can tune in every night at 11:30pm (UK time). But don’t worry, they will be available via MetOpera.org homepage for 23 hours… until the next one starts!
🖼️ Culture in quarantine
BBC Arts have announced a ‘virtual festival of the arts’ — across television, radio and online, to give the nation access to museums and the arts when we need it most.
🏃♂️Marathon de Balcon
Elisha Nochomovitz, a 32-year-old restaurant worker living in Toulouse, France, was supposed to be running the Barcelona marathon this week. So instead he ran the length of the marathon (26.2 miles) on his 23-foot long balcony while the country is on lockdown!
🐟 Why so koi?
Only in England… meanwhile, a mystery man has arranged to buy his entire village fish and chips in a bid to bring the community together during the coronavirus lockdown.
Stephen Davidson, owner of The Fox Inn in Denchworth, Oxfordshire, said he had been recruited by his mystery fellow villager who said he wanted to show "how important pubs are to village life" and hoped others would follow his lead.
💙 Standing ovation for the superheroes
Last Thursday the nation stood at their doorways and windows up and down the country to show their appreciation for the incredible care workers and heroes of our NHS.
🐑 Thank Ewe NHS
Meanwhile in Wales… this farmer won the internet.
#LightItBlue
Monuments across the four nations were lit up blue in honour of the doctors, nurses, care workers, GPs and all front line and support staff.
